How To Host A Walk-A-Thon Fundraiser

November 13 2017

FlipGive is a free team funding app that makes raising money a breeze. Teams earn cash back for buying the things they already need. Get paid whenever you shop, dine out, book hotels or activities.

The great thing about hosting a walk-a-thon is that it’s accessible for all ages and fitness levels. It’s also a fundraising event that’s not extremely high cost, which means more dollars go back to your team, cause, or school. It’s a great opportunity to connect your team or organization with the wider community, but you’re going to need a lot of help to put together this fundraiser. Assemble a team that consists of motivated volunteers, and assigns roles for your fundraising even to streamline planning.

Getting your fundraiser started:

You should give yourself 2-3 months at least to plan this kind of fundraising event. You’re going to want to organize your sponsors well in advance, and give your supporters enough time to raise money to participate in your fundraising event. Put together a logo for your fundraising event, and put out an announcement of your fundraising event so that your supporters can get started. You should encourage your supporters to use an online fundraising platform in order to streamline donations. FlipGive is a great tool for this kind of event, because you can see how much each individual supporter raised, while still raising money together for an overarching cause.

You’ll also need to plan out a route for your fundraiser and obtain the necessary permits for your walk-a-thon. This is extremely important to do for your fundraiser, so that you know your participants are safe during their run.

What you’ll need for your fundraiser:

Talk to local businesses in your area and see if they would be interested in sponsoring your event. You’ll need to have a sponsorship tier template before you approach them, so that your sponsors know what they are receiving when they donate to your fundraising event. Have prizes available for participants who raise the most to keep them motivated, and have a system by which your participants can register for your fundraising event.

How your fundraiser raises money:

Participants in your fundraiser raise money for your team, cause, or school with sponsorships. Participants should have to raise a minimum amount in order to participate in the walk-a-thon. You can also encourage participants to raise money in teams, so that your fundraiser can raise even more money.

Bonus cash back for your fundraiser:

Earn bonus cash back for your fundraiser by hosting your fundraising campaign on FlipGive. Users can reach their fundraising goals through the platform by shopping for things they need or want. You can also purchase items you need for your fundraising event through your campaign, so that the fundraising dollars keep rolling in.
