A dodgeball tournament fundraiser is a really fun way to raise money. The best part about this kind of fundraiser is it doesn’t require significant athletic ability, so it can be open to your entire community. Here’s how it to set it up:
What you’ll need for your fundraiser:
Use a tennis court or basketball court for your tournament. This works well because the lines have already been created. Have referees on each court for your tournament, and make sure that you have refreshments available for your participants. If your basketball or tennis court has bleachers, that’s great, you can invite community members to watch and cheer!
How your fundraiser raises money:
You can raise money during your tournament a couple ways. You can charge an entry fee per person, or you can have a minimum raise for each team as a whole. If you’re planning on providing things for your teams, like food and uniforms, make sure that your entry fee reflects that. You’re going to want to have an online platform for your teams to raise money before your tournament starts.
Come up with a budget in order to ensure that your entry fee makes sense with how much your tournament costs, and what kind of prizing you are offering for your tournament.
Basic rules for your fundraiser:
-Each team must have five players and may have up to two alternates. (The number of players can be changed, of course.)
-There should be four divisions: Boys High School division, Girls High School division, Boys Middle School division, Girls Middle School division (at camp you could also have a staff division)
-Each division must have at least four teams.
-This will be a double elimination tournament.
-No use of foul language will be tolerated.
Volunteers for your fundraiser:
You’ll need volunteers to register all of your participants the day of your fundraising event and set up your space. Make sure that you give your volunteers a detailed schedule before your dodgeball tournament fundraiser.
